However, the introduction of methacrylate—an innovative, durable, and lightweight polymer—revolutionized the industry when first sampled in 1949–50. The designer’s extensive experimentation with this new material led to the creation of the Model 2065 suspension lamp. Over the years, he continued to explore its possibilities, adjusting compositions, dimensions, and colors, establishing this piece as a hallmark of modernist design and technological innovation.
